We recently took a trip to England, to attend a family wedding. Soon after arriving in London, we visited family in the Tower Hamlets area of London. During the day, we all took a walk through the neighborhood to become familiar with the area. This included visiting Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park; this was one of the sites for the 2012 Olympic games. The stadium at this location hosted track and field events. Now, it is the home ground for West Ham football team (soccer).
Having seen some murals earlier in the day, I decided to head back to the same location. Murals are unique and never permanent. Over time, the walls that host the mural get over-painted with new murals and defaced with graffiti. Often buildings adorned with murals may be repainted, re-purposed or demolished. These murals are in the Iron Works area. I found this stunning mural.

There was some interesting graffiti in the area!

There are some really intricately detailed murals in the Iron Works area.

The Iron Works area is a home to many creative businesses. This can be seen in murals at one of the street intersections in the area.

This alcove has several overlapping murals.

Here is another large facial themed mural.

There are some fun murals. That looks like something trying to eat a train! Close to the Tower Hamlets area, are several railway stations that serve different transportation networks, both overground and underground. Maybe the mural is attempting to depict something about this?

Here is another mural of Weird Lil Guy.

I found this mural based on the Gremlins movie. The elderly lady is watering the Gremlin. This is a no-no; watch the movie to find out why.

Returning back from the Iron Works area, I passed by this cafe again.

The owner, or one of the employees, stopped to chat. This cafe is adorned with several murals. I pointed out that murals often change radically with time, so it is always best to capture images when one sees them. Next time at the same location, the murals often change!
