For our final day of the trip, we visited Truitts Landing. At one of the lakes close to the marshes, a Tricolored Heron was busy foraging.<\/p>\n\n\n

Finding its prey, the heron dove his head below the water to cat the prey.<\/p>\n\n\n

From here we headed to a different location in Pocomoke State Park. Close to the parking lot, a Tufted Titmouse was busy feeding its young in the nest. I captured this image before the parent entered the cavity nest to perform some cleaning duties!<\/p>\n\n\n

We continued to walk from here to the forest. Several Ovenbirds we busy calling out as we made our way through the forest. We were also fortunate to see one of these birds in the tree canopy above us. I was able to capture an image as this Ovenbird as it called out from the branch above us.<\/p>\n\n\n

During our walk through the forest, we passed many Mountain Laurel bushes. These had really distinctive white flowers with red stripes and stamen.<\/p>\n\n\n

At Pocomoke, we visited the Museum that had recently re-opened. This contains several exhibits that detailed the settlement and history of the area from pre-Colonial times to the present day. Lunch was spent at the park adjacent to the Pocomoke River. We then walked through the adjacent nature trail. Here is one last image of a Prothonotary Warbler that was calling out from the branches.<\/p>\n\n\n

Close to our lunch location, several lawn mowers were parked outside a local business. I could not help making an image of the display!<\/p>\n\n\n

Close to the lunch location and nearby nature trail, I made this image of the Pocomoke River and Riverwalk.<\/p>\n\n\n

We proceeded to the Field Station to celebrate the time we had on the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are Scott and Clare. Clare was our host and tour organizer. Scott was our birding expert and birding guide. This image was at our Chesapeake Bay Boil; one can see the remains of our dinner laid out on the table below.<\/p>\n\n\n

For one of the evenings, a local band “The Salts” performed for us. Here are John, Thom and Bill performing for us.<\/p>\n\n\n
