The light at this time of the year is really amazing. When going to work, I passed by the Arapahoe Station buildings every day. Nearby buildings are reflected in the windows. I moved around until the reflections were fragmented into several pieces.

Chopped Building Reflection
Later that day, I was in Lodo for one of the Meetup groups. The alley behind Casselmann’s has several murals. Recently they must have been refreshed with new images.

Lodo Alley Mural
Farther along the alley, the artist made a really striking image of the lady and the flower.

Lady And Flower Mural
The fountain at Arapahoe Station changes it height during the course of the day. Later in the week, the fountain had reached its peak height. I noticed reflections of the main fountain in the water at the base of the fountain and made this image.

Fountain Reflection
As one moves around the fountains, the adjacent buildings are also reflected in the water at the base of the fountain. I like the abstract quality of the reflections in the image below.

Abstract Building Reflections
The north-facing front of the Ciber building is in shadow at this time of the year. However, the lawn and hedgerow outside is in full sunlight. This is really very striking in the infra-red image below.

Front Of Ciber Building
Finally, I made an image of the Tuscany Plaza building with avenue of trees lit up in their fall colors. This weak the moon has been waning. The crescent of the opening in the building reminded me of the phase of the moon for this week.

Eyeballs For Sale, Eyeballs For Sale! This lady was selling some really tasty snacks. Eyeballs, fingers and brains.

Eyeballs For Sale!
There were just so many zombies all around.

Zombie Pair
This Umbrella Corp officer was in light-sword combat with Darth Vader. They held their pose for a long time to let us photograph.

Hold That Pose
She was too late to be attacked by this zombie. Yum!

Yum, Tasty Umbrella
I like your hat.

I Like Your Hat
Some people just had too much fun. Not enough blood around here!

Having A Fun Time
Some people were totally oblivious of events around them. They just did not care like these chess players.

Head out to the Illuminate Workshops meetup group to see some more images.

Elvis was there too!

Zombie Elvis
This zombie was deep in conversation before I stopped for an image. He stopped in mid sentence while I made this image and then continued his sentence from where he left off!

Interrupted Conversation
Some zombies had some really elaborate hair styles.

The colorful jester was infected with the zombie virus.

This lady was giving blood… Z-type!

Applying Blood
I always like to capture bystanders at these events. This onlooker was surprised when I made this image.

Surprised Onlooker
I really liked the gaze as this zombie looked at the camera.

Yesterday I joined the Illuminate Workshops meetup group for the Annual Denver Zombie Crawl. After meeting, we headed to 16th Street. A band was playing to zombies and everyone alike. Here we got to meet one of the first zombie couples, chained together.

Chained Together
Even this kid got infected with the zombie virus.

Zombie Child
Lots of zombies were on hand to spread the virus.

Making Up
All sorts of people were infected with the virus, as was this bowler-hatted guy.

Zombie With Bowler Hat And Pipe
And don’t forget the Umbrella Corporation who were out to exterminate zombies.

Umbrella Corporation
Zombies even have smart phones.

Even Zombies Have Smart Phones
Mmmm. I wonder if that is a Sprint phone?

More Zombies
This zombie had some great pants. Somehow I don’t see much blood on this one!

October 5th was the Worldwide Photowalk. After arriving late, and missing the start of the walk, I met a fellow photowalker, Forrest. We made our way to the Lodo skateboard park. We found a great location where the skateboarder’s were catching plenty of air right in front of us.

Caught Some Air
In between images, we were chatting about photography. Forrest had moved from Oregon to Denver the previous week. The sun was setting as we were photographing. One skateboard rider had caught some air, and jumped to our right, leaving his skateboard in the setting sun (below).

Skateboard, Left Behind
I was lucky to capture the image below with my Fuji X-E1. I pre-focussed on the lip of the bowl below the skater. Then I waited until he reached the peak of his movement with his arms stretched out like a bird.

Lodo Skateboarder
Shortly after, the remainder of the photowalkers arrived at the skateboard part. I headed over the find our leader Lincoln Phillips to become acquainted. During our conversation, skaters were busy in the bowl behind us. I stopped to make this image of Geoff climbing the lip of the bowl.

Skateboarder Geoff
Leaving the skateboard park with the photowalkers, Forrest and I passed this alley adjacent to this condemned building.

Condemned Building
During meetup groups over the last year or so, we had done night photography in the Highlands Bridge area. I took the opportunity to make another image of National Treasure next to the bridge.

Highlands Bridge And National Treasure
For the final image, I set up the camera on the tripod and waited for some bridge walkers to approach. At the opportune moment I released the shutter for a multi-second exposure to capture their ghosts.

Ghosts Of Highlands Bridge
We made our way to the Colorado Photographic Arts Center gallery. They had just finished the opening of an exhibition earlier that evening. The Director, Rupert, gave a brief overview of the center for us. That completed the last event on the Photowalk.

To wrap up September, I have selected some iPhone images that were made throughout the month. This peach got the tangled treatment with TangledFX before being consumed.

Tangled Peach
Angela had her car resprayed this month. After spending the night out in the rain, her car had accumulated some rain drops that showed off the shiny new paint.

Rain Drops On Fresh Paint
We have Cosmos growing in our garden. These plants will only last for a few more weeks before the fall and winter weather arrive. I found this one Cosmos flower that had pink fringed petals.

Pink Fringed Cosmos
Colorado had loads of rain during the month. While riding on Light Rail during one of the rain storms, I made this image of a reflection of a fellow commuter busy reading her book.

Light Rail Commuter Reader
The gym had all these purple weights stowed in a rack.

Purple Power
When the light rail pulled into the station, the sun reflected from the windows to created these stripes on the concrete floor.

Striped Reflections
On a previous visit to the gym, I made a similar image of this office tower against the sky at dusk. However, I was not really satisfied with that image so I made another one.

Building At Dusk
On Friday we had overcast weather with low clouds. I made this image of the office without the harsh shadows from the early morning sunshine. Just gave this a slight tint and a square crop.

This week we have had heavy rains along the Front Range. Wednesday, started with rain on the way to work. The slick sidewalk outside the entrance the Village Station building was reflected off the glass walls. Inside the building, yellow strip lights lit the entrance. The yellow stripes made an interesting contrast to the reflections outside.

Yellow Strip Lights And Reflections
I pass by the Tuscany Plaza building every day to work where this doorway is lit by a green lamp. However, on most days it is too bright outside to see the color. With the overcast weather, the lamp shone brightly, complementing the greens from the grass.

Green Doorway Light
Workmen we busy in one of the nearby parking lots. They had neatly arranged this row of bright orange cones to keep the cars out.

Row Of Cones
After work, I made my way to the Denver Java User’s Group meeting in Lodo. It had been raining most of the evening. After the meeting, Larimer Street was covered with a slick layer of water. At night, the street is lit by overhead lighting along this city street block.

Lights On Larimer Street
Passing by this red car, the street lights were reflected from the roof. All the rain drops on the car’s roof also reflected the street lights.

Larimer Street Car Roof Reflections
Near the Convention Center, people had abandoned the rain outside. The red restaurant chairs were abandoned with their black tables outside.

Red Restaurant Chairs
The roof of the Convention Center has angular corners that complements the glass walls below. The interior lighting cast shadows of the windows on the ceiling. I angled my camera to capture the roof line against the night sky in this black and white image.

All images were made with a Fujifilm X-E1 that has become my walkabout camera of choice.

This week my camera conversion to infra-red was completed and delivered. Sunny days are always great for doing infra-red photography. Leaves on the trees render as white and the sky and water renders as deep dark tones. I made several images during my daily walk to work.

Ciber Building And Trees
Walking down the avenue of trees that line the sidewalk, I stopped to capture the dark sky that was formed by an opening in the trees. If you look carefully, you might see the tiny crescent of the moon near the left of the image.

Trees With Tiny Moon
This pond outside Tuscany Plaza is ideal for capture reflections of the trees and the sky. Water absorbs most of the infra-red sunlight and usually renders as a dark tone. Only the light reflected from the trees preserve their light tones.

Tree Reflections In Pond
Here is another image of the pond outside the plaza building.

Pond And Tree Tuscany Plaza
Finally, I arrived at our office building. I made an image at this southern end of the building in the past, where the walls come to a sharp point. The wide-angle lens exaggerates the perspective at this point.

Our Office Building
I am very pleased with the results of this conversion that was done by LifePixel (http://www.lifepixel.com/).
